Kids' Guernica at Ikegami Elementary School, Osaka, Japan

March 2013,
A new Kids' Guernica peace mural was created by 59 sixth graders of Ikegami Elementary School in Izumi City, Osaka, Japan based on their study on war and peace. They studied various aspects of war and peace such as the history of wars, the cause of wars, the tragic results of wars and the meaning of international laws. When they went on a school excursion to Hiroshima, they visited the Peace Memorial Museum and interviewed some of the atomic bomb survivors of the atomic bombing. Finally, it was displayed at their graduation ceremony. As well as a message of peace, their mural shows a strong bond of cooperation which they experienced through the process of painting it.
