3D Guernica in Vitoria- Gasteiz, Basque Country in Spain

An eight years old group of forty pupils from the “ López de Gereñu” school in Vitoria- Gasteiz, Basque Country in Spain created a unique art work in three dimensions with recycled material on the occasion of the anniversary of the bombardment of Guernica.

The flashing lights stand for the flames of the incendiary bombs, and the sound evoke that of the bombs. The whole work is placed in one of the corridors of the school and has obtained congratulations from the town council of Guernica.

Kids' Guernica Exhibition in Nagasaki

A Kids' Guernica exhibition is held around the ground-zero area of Nagasaki, Japan for the 67th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city. This exhibition shows Kids’ Guernica peace paintings from Germany and Cambodia as well as paintings by Nagasaki children.

Two paintings were sent from Germany. One is from Thüringen and another is a collaborative painting with children from different countries: Turkey, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Germany, and White Russia and from different religions: Islam, Christianity, Orthodox, Buddhism, and Hinduism.


Two more collaborative peace paintings are also exhibited. One was created by Jewish and Palestinian children. Another painting was completed by children of Haiti and Japan, which were hit by catastrophic earthquakes. This exhibition shows a strong message for world peace from the ground zero.

Collaboration with Haiti and Japan

  The half of the canvas was painted by children of Cesla School in Bon Repos, Haiti which also suffered a great disaster by earthquake in 2010. The painting was completed last summer and sent to Japan. The other half of the painting was completed by children of Natori community near the Sendai airport swallowed by the tsunami of 3.11, last year. They are still living in a temporary housing even one year after the disaster. This Kids’ Guernica is a collaborative work with children in the both countries hit by earthquakes and shows a message of the necessity of cooperation to struggle for revival after the earthquakes.

Exhibition in Gernika Peace Museum

A winderful Kids' Guernica exhibition is held at Gernika Peace Museum in Spain.
For this exhibition, new Kids' Guernica peace paintings were created in the town of Gernika.
