The First Kids' Guernica in Poland

June, 2011
Kids’ Guernica workshop in Wrocław was organized by the institution of culture Wrocław 2016 between 16th of May and 17th of June. The final took place on 17th of June during the Kids’ Peace March.
Before children created the painting they had 6 special workshops in Mariusz Mikołajek’s studio. The artist and his friend Witold Liszkowski (also an independent artist) were talking with children about peace and war, Guernica’s history, the history of our city and of course about different painting techniques. After that children started their work.
Kids’ Guernica in Wrocław was created by 17 children (age 4-15 years) with little help of 11 disabled kids from the foundation ART-BRUT. It’s a kids interpretation of original Pablo Picasso’s “Guernica”.
